To apply to VCU, access the application here. Use the freshman application if you have never taken any college-level courses after high school. Use the transfer application if you have previously taken college-level courses, either online or in person.

Transfer Maps
Transfer maps are major maps for Virginia community college students who plan on transferring to VCU. We have partnered with community colleges to provide similar academic and career-planning guidance to prospective transfer students as we provide to incoming first year students at VCU. This guidance includes a four-year degree plan that outlines courses and requirements to be taken at the community college in the first two years as well as courses that remain to be taken at VCU for the final two years. By following the recommendations of the transfer maps, community college students will: prepare for the academic challenges at VCU; graduate on time, with minimal debt and loss of transfer credit; and plan for a future after graduation. Once you review the transfer maps, you should schedule a meeting with the Transfer Center for additional support.
Transfer Credit
There is no mystery or uncertainty when it comes to transferring credit at VCU. If you have questions about whether your credits will transfer, you can meet with the Transfer Center before you apply. The staff will review your unofficial transcripts and share how your credits will transfer into our degree programs.

Whether you're planning to attend as an undergraduate or post-undergraduate, part-time or full-time, or in-state or out-of-state student, you can use our calculator to determine the per-semester cost of attending Virginia Commonwealth University. Military Benefits
To apply for education benefits through the GI Bill, submit the appropriate form to the Department of Veterans Affairs so the VA can verify your eligibility.
- If you have never received VA education benefits, activate and apply for your benefits online through vets.gov/education. You will create your account with the VA and indicate which military benefit you are applying for. After completing your application the VA should issue you a copy of your "COE" (certificate of eligibility) normally within 30 days
- If you are an active duty service member or a veteran and have previously used military benefits at another institution, you do not need to re-apply at vets.gov/eduation but rather transfer your benefits to VCU by completing the VA 22-1995 Change of Program Place or Training Form.
- If you are a military dependent or spouse who has previously received transferred benefits, complete the VA 22-5495 Change of Program Place of Training Form
